No need for an Explorer rear end. There are both 3.45 and 3.27 rear ends available for the Ranger. No need for extra parts and no worries about lowering anything to match the lower rear. With the oversized tires on there, there isn't much room in the wheel wells to lower it much anyhow.

With rolled fender wells, you could tuck quite a large tire with a pretty significant drop on a street driven truck... on a forum, there was a guy in Canada with a 5/9 drop and stuffing a 31x10.5 rear tire, because he couldn’t get a 33x10.5 tire to clear... with a decent drop your frontal area shrinks significantly...
