I picked up my 2001 Prius for $2200
it's got 200K and newly rebuilt batteries

so far, I'm averaging about 42mpg with her on my new 60mile (each way) commute

they are out there,
but the next best priced one I could find was over $4K and had a "Rebuilt"/"Salvage" title
(it has a little body damage (rubbed against a parking pillar on the rear passenger fender))
but the main reason for the good deal was the fact that the car was in a remote area
if it had been in Seattle/Tacoma, it would have been $4K
