What reaction is this going for?
Just A Car Guy: banners
Mine is that red convertible tops are tacky.

I agree, one of my standouts. I haven’t given BMW enough credit, for as stoic as Germans are, this is a really neat marketing ploy.
BMW has one of my favorite racing liveries of all-time (I’m not a big racing fan), the X-ray livery.
Paint is Dead - WrapWorks Gives the StanceWorks Group A Tribute E28 Build its Colors
Not many good photos of this livery for some reason.

Quote:
mechanics had taken to calling the car "der Truffeljager von Zuffenhausen", a derogatory term referring to the car as a truffle hunter because of its "pig-like" proportions.
The car performed well in testing, but was still viewed as an eyesore. Intended to be sponsored by Martini spirits, the car was shown to Count Rossi, and immediately rejected. Rossi forbade Porsche from running the car with his company's livery, demanding a change be made immediately. With not much time left, going along with the joke, Porsche then had the car painted in a pale rose color, demarcating the car into sections, and labeling it with various cuts of meat. .... While the car was unloved in its day, the unique livery has given it something just short of legendary status among the Porsche faithful.

If you look closely at the Andy Warhol BMW it looks like it was painted with a brush and then fingerpainted.

The low-rider painters would look at that and say "What a fraud."
Just A Car Guy: Damn, that is one incredible paint job
