Proud member

Hey everyone! I just wanted to drop a quick line and introduce myself.

Im a new member to the ecomodder forum and i new member to the economy driving world.

Im 19 years old living in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I have a pretty extensive driving background from go karts as a kid up to some open wheel testing now. I have always been the one to constantly drive way to fast and never really payed attention to my fuel economy because i was afraid of what i would find. I used to drive a 02' Subaru Impreza 2.5TS with 330,000 km. It was terrible on fuel.

Now im driving a 92 toyota paseo and i just managed to squeeze 7.5 L/100km this past week. TOTALLY STOKED considering the car is listed to get 9 L/100km

Welcome to EM. You find there is more than one way to define performance driving. Members here are rather fond of squeezing more distance out of that precious fuel we're using.

Welcome to the site fellow Paseo owner. The Paseo is a great car capable of some pretty amazing mileage. With a little self control and studying of the hypermiling tips you should be able to fairly easily get up to 6l/100km. If you go all the way, use pulse and glide technique and have a good route you can get much better mileage. With my Paseo I was able to get up to 4l/100km just with driving technique. With a few modifications and a route adjustment I got my best tank ever of 3.3l/100km over 1160km.

Daox, before joining the forum I was skimming through and stumbled upon your car. Its impressive what these little cars are capable of. My brother has 3 Tercels and a Paseo haha.

I have been driving very conservatively but the majority of my driving is done at rush hour so that limits my ability to implement all of the hypermiling techniques. Another factor which I think plays a role in capping my fuel economy is the engines tired state. Roughly 280,000km and a slight idle problem might be holding me back.

Now that winter is on its way I won't be expecting any amazing numbers. I'm very interested in some simple aerodynamic modifications such as an aluminum belly pan and rear quarter-panel extensions.

I'm using a somewhat primitive technique for calculating my fuel mileage but I think that for my amateur approach the Trip meter and receipt from a fuel tank will suffice.

Looking forward to some lower numbers! Happy miling!
