Pulse and Glide finally showing progress

This week I have been going at pulse and glide pretty steadily. I finally have the MpGuino built and installed(still working on reset issue:confused:)

I was monitoring my mileage with it to and from work. About 3.5 miles one way, which sucks for FE, cold engine. MpGuino was saying 34.5Mpg last week everyday to and from work, this week I have achieved 55- 58Mpg using P&G (Thanks MetroMPG for explaining it in more detail to me) :D:turtle:

My MpGuino is not calculated for gas usage yet, but miles driven right on.

Rough calculations though would show an increase of 55% driving the way I have been this week, I am excited about that. I was already 11.3% over EPA so I can't wait to see this tank, when I eventually fill up.

So long story short build yourself an MpGuino or buy a scanguage. It is the best trainer I have had so far.

Nice success story! That's a giant improvement. Sounds like you had fun, too.

Good work!

Did you try the spreadsheet program to see if it reflects reality for your car?

I'm still not convinced it works in the Previa. Automatic and all.

I guess I need a guino.

P.S. I just installed a block heater because I have a lot of short trips. I hear they make a big difference. We shall see...

Ciao.

Yay, Pulse and Glide!
I love P&G!
Probably because people go cross-eyed when I describe it to them. :D

Now that's funny right there!! Same response I normally get as well.

Orange4boy, no spreadsheet, never seen or heard of it.

Ditto, they get that glazed look in their eyes.

Do metros have electronic or cable driven speedometers? An mpguino would be nice in my car but it has a cable speedo... not sure how that would work.

Cable driven speedo - 100% sure.

Cable driven to speedo, then it has a vss output from speedo to ecu.

My wife refuses to do engine-off P&G, but I'll do it as long as the lights and stop signs permit.

Usually Sweetie is driving the Forester, which is lamentably automatic; my feet wouldn't fit in the driving position with three pedals down there. She's been doing all the strategies she can think of to do while driving and has managed to drag the Forester up to a consistent 27+mpg. I think that's lousy but haven't been able to improve on it, so I reckon that may be as good as an unaltered Forester is going to get.
