Push mower mods

Mowing faster saves time and gasoline. My used 6hp briggs and stratton flat head mower has plenty of power but it's discharge chute clogs up with tall grass and weeds too easy then the mower boggs down. That means slow down and allow the chute to clear.
Ain't nobody got time for that.
Before plasma cutter:

After plasma cutter:

If you have other people near by, it's probably not a good idea to make the discharge chute bigger.

Nice work

I just bungee the flap up during “wet/long” grass and it blows grass everywhere and doesn’t clog as easily

My fathers antique 18hp Wheelhorse rider was actually bogging and clogging during the recent rainy season, lifted the flap but it still managed to bog down but no more clogs.

Well I took it out and ran it hard, by pulling it behind the riding mower, it blasts chopped weeds and grass out the side hard and far with no clogs.
It's got the big back wheels, usually the wheels get replaced and upgraded when a rock or peice of wood comes off the blade and takes out a wheel.

I also RTV'ed the paper air filter to the air cleaner since it eats a lot of dust.

Now I'm going to build a pack of lawn mowers to drag behisnd my riding mower.
I bought a 21 inch briggs and stratton ran with out oil and blown, I'm going to stick a 190cc 6.5hp engine on it. A 6.5hp with a 21 inch blade will be very tough to stall.
The others are that 6hp flat head and a 3hp flat head from the 1990s. The 3hp will over lap with the riding mower so it only has to eat a 12 to 14 inch wide strip of grass so it doesn't stall all the time.

17 acres of my own plus about 2 half acre lots.
I need to put some 4 legged grass cutters on there.

I found a blade adaptor that will allow me to use star pattern riding lawn mower blades on a push mower.. That's significant because riding mower blades have commercial versions that are very heavy and tungsten carbide crystal coated.
Typical push mower blades are thin, cheap and dull quickly from low alloy content. The carbide crystal commercial blades are self sharpening.

The muffler fell off so I fixed it.

All it needs is a flapper.
