Question about the Ford ZX2
I'm looking at a Red 1998 Ford ZX2 5 speed for sale, but it does not have ABS.
Does anyone know what I would have to Junkyard to add Antilock to the car?
(rotational speed sensors, ABS computer, rear disks?)

I do not like ABS brakes myself, but in order to retrofit that ZX2, you will have a lot of work and money invested including.............
ABS speed sensors
ABS Module plumbed into brake lines
PCM from ABS equipped car
Replace axles with tone ring style
wiring harness
I would find one with ABS before sinking a small fortune into that one.

The Mullet is wise. Keep shopping!
Judging by your name you are a Ford person. Step up to the Focus, as ABS was more available than in the Escorts. From 2000 - 2003 the Focus and Escort were sold side by side with the Escorts being mostly fleet and rental sales, which = basic. Look for an early Focus.

I third!
I swapped ABS in to a supra once; totally wasn't worth it.

Thanks for the info, guys. I am a ford person. You can blame Sean T. for my presence here, he brought me over from TaurusClub.com
Don't the early ones have a lot of problems? They are pretty cool IMO.

I worked for Ford for 5 years and would tell you if you want a Focus, make damn sure it's a 2005 or newer. Don't EVER get an older Focus with the 2.0L SPI (Split Port Injection) engine since they are under-powered and not reliable.

I would buy the ZX2... They have a great style to them, and look very original.

When I first started working for Ford, the ZX2 was on sale brand new for $6999.00

I live in MN too, and have one vehicle with ABS. I can count the times on one hand that the ABS has been engaged in the last 14 years... and even then, it was because I "locked 'em up" on purpose just to see if the ABS even worked. Forget about it.
