So this picture is inaccurate:



Both 2D representations are incomplete. Without the inward rolling vortexii coming off the B-pillar to feed the engine air.

Note also 1500CFM of heated air ejected as a jet under the rear bumper.

Completely!
The 1500cfm would be a contingent upon the bi-metallic, thermostatically-controlled cooling fan inlet bell-mouth position.

Afaik, only the early single ports < 50 hp had the bell mouth variable intake. All my stuff had the exit flappers which usually ended up stuck closed, but carry on
