rear 'wave spoiler' vs partial Kammback

The following link got me hungry for a true drag reducing spoiler without all the hassle and questionable aesthetic impact of a partial kammback.
]Green Car Congress: Novel Spoiler Design Reduces Fuel Consumption for Minivans, SUVs
5% reduced drag while still reducing lift by 100% sounds pretty good. It didn't specify the mpg improvement. Looks like a good metal beater could make one, or simple enough with rollers if your vehicle has a rare square back.
hand carved foam overlaid with glass? This'un would be a challenge with those knife edges..

Here it is :

Green Car Congress: Novel Spoiler Design Reduces Fuel Consumption for Minivans, SUVs

Quote:
A team of researchers has used the principles of fluid dynamics and numerical simulation to design a new rear spoiler for bluff-backed vehicles (such as minivans and SUVs) that can reduce drag and lift significantly.
We've talked about this before, but I don't have the thread in front of me.

Yup, that's the bigger image you get to when you click on the image at the Green Car Congress article.

Are you prepared to argue the questionable aesthetic impact of the female human form?
