Which scooters around 150cc to 250cc are quality scooters? Which types get good mileage and are reliable?

Interested in both used and new, and looking for recommendations.

I was amazed to read what Allert Jacobs achieved with his Honda Innova (200+MPG) but I'm not sure if this model is available in the US

At this point I am looking at performance, not price. However, if a Metro can get better mileage than a scooter, I'm probably not going with a scooter.

These are some quality units. They are not of the same size, but as you look you will see that suzuki doesn't make anything smaller than 400, and kawasaki doesn't compete in this market (that I know of). If you are going to get a scooter for mileage, you are probably just as well off getting a motorcycle (as they are prone to better mielage due to their manual trans. Can you beat these with a metro? yes, but not easily for most of them. With a metro you will have to try, with a scooter you can just exist. You can even beat on them and do well. I enjoy two wheel transport. It is a whole different way to travel.
