I can see the difference in my scangauge. My a/c robs my car of nearly 9mpg at 55mph on the highway.
I have never exceeded 38mpg driving my highway run to work, whereas when manually cycling the a/c on the same drive I average over 46mpg.
On small engines its a big deal ..
