Removing duct tape residue from car body

The thread on taping things to the body reminded me of this. When the Prius got broken into this winter my wife had to tape it up to drive home. All she had was duct tape and it left its nasty adhesive all around the window. Whats the best way to remove it? Just go at it with rubbing alcohol and a rag?

Goo-gone will get it off, its like citrus or something, I have used it on my car and it did not hurt the paint AT ALL so I would recommend it, Only thing is, it defiantly takes some working to get it all off but its probably the best...

3M make a product specifically for this but the name escapes me right now.
Also try straight Eucalyptus oil or even Amway Bug and Tar remover.
Any thinners etc is a last resort and may damage paintwork.

Peter.

I've used water and a big block pencil eraser to remove bumper sticker residue. It makes the residue ball up and roll off. Maybe that in combination with goo gone might work well.

goo gone is great, but don't use it on weather stripping it damages the foam rubber. the PO on my vert used it to seal the top to the windshield, and left lots of residue on the glass and the weatherstrip right above it. Goo gone took it off the glass, but started to damage the rubber I still don't have a good solution for the rubber yet. If anybody finds one let me know! So far I'm letting it dry out as much as possible, and flaking it off slowly with a fingernail. It takes forever
