There is another option. Get a toyota RV. I would recommend a Sunrader due to its 2 piece fiberglass clamshell construction. Other RVs such as your are a non-stop battle of keeping the seams sealed. No such issues with a Sunrader and even if you did have water get in through a roof vent, the fiberglass doesn't mind.
1500 lbs is quite a bit of weight, but, there is a good bit of weight you could get rid of. Sunraders come in 18 and 21 ft models. The 18 would likely be too small. Find a 21 ft, rear dinette and gut it other than the bathroom which is a very efficient design. Imagine a 4 ft long shower with a toilet mounted on the floor and a small sink integrated into the fiberglass shower wall. Very space efficient and much better than the larger baths with a separate tiny shower.
This bath room is immediately behind the driver. Gutting the rest of the interior would lose a lot of weight, probably better than half the 1500 'bot payload. You could easily saw a big hole in the back wall and hinge it at the top for a loading hatch. Older short sunraders had this rear hatch from the factory.
This is a little over 19 ft, but, well under the 11K GVW which, I assume means you can park it in the road.
And one of these, stock with the bulletproof 22R four will get you in the neighborhood of 17 mpg, possibly a bit more if you have a 4 speed. I think a few aero mods and conservative driving could get it into the 20s.
If you would like to learn more about them, there are a few good sites. toyotamotorhome.org and a yahoo toyota campers group.

Thx pete, but that's a motorhome. Tickets! Motorhomes and commercial veh over 11k get tickets.
I can't move, nor do I really want to over something so trivial.
I enjoy finding novel solutions to ****ty situations I can't control. I'll get this worked out.
Going to LA for a moped rally this weekend, then when I get home I'm going to talk to the hvac sheet metal guy to see what kind of bro deal I can get.
Then just have to talk to the head parking and traffic officer or chief before I chop to see what is enforced and what is not, how they judge what is a motorhome and what is not.
If he tells me what I think he's going to tell me, I'll start chopping soon after our conversation.
It's going to be quite the sight the day of destruction. My neighbors are gonna think I've gone off my rocker, which I have...

Don't suppose you have any friends with larger driveways, huh?
The shorty sunrader at 18 ft might be an option, but, I suspect it would be too cramped inside.
Well, bust out the sawzall and have at it. And remember to post pics.
Any chance you and the 'bots would ever make it to Connecticut? Would love to see the show.

Nope, all my friends have dinky driveways..and I wouldn't want to subject them and their neighbors to my ugly vehicle.
I play Milford,Ct on most tours. You should trek out next spring.

Well, had a great conversation with the head of parking and traffic,
He was cool to my situation, and after learning of that my camper is gutted, he said it wouldn't even be considered a motorhome anymore, implied that after he sees pics of this on my ticket dispute that he would dismiss it, and inform the night staff to not pop me anymore. Awesome!
He even had asked my why I didn't just get a uhaul box truck... I told him about the 10k gvwr limit on public streets, and he said they were only enforcing that to stop semi trucks from parking on city streets, he said a box truck would be fine.
Wow. I'm so happy.
So now I need to change my plans a bit.
It seems pretty evident that If I can have a box truck, then I should try and get a diesel, then modify it instead of my dodge to get the best mileage I can.
What do you guys think?

I think it's great when you find the law being administered by actual human beings.

In case you didn't catch it, there is a relevant post here:

This could apply to you V2 or Plan B. Up-thread they are discussing the actual product; but I like otto's suggestion about reinforcing cloroplast sheets with internal dowels [or fiberglass rods].
