Rolled fender aero?

So I have found myself in need of at least one fender for my car, and I’ve been inspired by the work of OG VX, with his trailing edge rolled in for smoother air evacuation from the wheel wells... I however can’t find any info on this mod... I’m sure it’s buried in his build thread but I hadn’t found it yet... how much was gained by having the fender vented in such a manner?

I think you would be hard pressed to quantify a value of reduced fuel consumption. These types of mods are adders that may not do much individually, but when combined with other subtle mods can start to add up.

I haven't seen this example but it is done routinely in racing and on very high efficiency cars.

I remember a more subtle version done on the G1 Insight, but I had no idea if it helped much at all

Curious too to know if and what might be measurable.

Needs pix.

I know you can roll the lip out, just [repeatedly] feed an aluminum baseball bat through as the car rolls forward and back.

My current scheme is to use a pool noodle cut in half lengthwise and fastened justvat the edge of the wheel well. It's far down on the list though.

It dates at least to the Scaglietti-designed Ferrari's of the 1960s.A number of makers have used a version of it ever since.I don't know that it's ever been tested and quantified as a specific feature.:(

A tight tire to wheelwell fit may just have the same impact.

Agreed, but my car needs dropped lol... I’m running about as large a tire as I feel good about running due to strut clearance...

It was reduced to a styling cue on the 1956 Corvette.
