Kandi EV remaining less costly in in U.S.?

Plugging this car like crazy on my Facebook- only $39K; just put down a $100.00 deposit (making Elio proud I bet). Then I see this article:
https://www.msn.com/en-us/autos/news...ip/ss-BB17wbbA
Is that the American way? Adding $30,000.00?

Don't forget the tax incentives, which they might have been trying to take advantage of. If they can get an extra 15g (making the sale price 12g) out of the U.S. government without reducing potential sales numbers I bet they would try.

Either way, hopefully it's not another elio project.

If they were smart they'd make a 16 kWh version. That's the smallest battery size that qualifies for the full federal tax credit. It would have about a 60 mile range, probably more like 35 in the winter.

The less expensive, smaller one is something like a 17kWh. If you really could get that one for $17500 to your door it's interesting. Seems like there are other fees and charges still due.

To the OP, yes selling something in the USA adds a ton to the price of anything. Sometimes it's just simply because they can, but there are a lot of extra rules and regulations involved and an army of lawyers ready to pounce on the slightest crack.

It says the dealer doc fees and other dealer fees, government fees, and transportation delivery fees not included. If you have to pay the fee all the way from china, any import fees, along with some huge dealer prep fees to unbox and assemble it, it could be a lot more than the "no haggle" price.

I skimmed the article too quickly and didn't notice they are discounting the initial orders.

$17k is too much for a 17 kWh EV considering you can buy a used Leaf with more range and presumably more features and interior volume for much less.

EDIT: Lol, they are advertising features like "door ajar warning" and "airbags". These really are stripped down vehicles with a top speed of 63 MPH.

Well it ends up under $10k if you can get the $7500 credit. Some states will also tack another couple thousand discount. At that point what's better, a 10 year old Leaf for $4000 or this new for $7000? I think it actually looks better than the Leaf, but that spokesmodel doing the US reveal must be about 4 feet tall. It would be funny to have Shaq walk out and see just how tiny they are!

I looks similar to an iMEV, which is the worst looking car ever made. Gen I leaf isn't too far behind in the looks department, though I hardly care.

I still think I'd prefer a 2013+ Leaf for $5-$10k. Oregon has a $2,500 rebate for used EVs.

That's probably why the used EV market dried up in all the other states around Oregon. You guys get them all because Oregon dealers outbid at the auctions.
