Scangauge Mount Review

We recently got in a small shipment of new Scangauge suction cup mounts.* So, I grabbed one and figured a review was in order before we start selling these. The construction of the mount is quite robust.* It has a nice, high quality suction cup design.* It has a lever on it so when you [...]

Cool gadget Makes mounting sooo much easier, especially if you use your SGII in more than one vehicle.

I've noticed that mounting instrumentation close to windows needs some kind of awning/shade to keep glare down and make it more readable. This can easily be DIYed out of black cardboard, of course.

BTW It's not in the EM store yet.

The one fly in this ointment is that things mounted on suction cups tend to get stolen. At a place where I worked, two different times several cars had smash & grab thefts in broad daylight, within 100' of the building where the thief took their GPS units. Apparently, even the *mark* made by the suction cup is enough to alert thieves.

So, be wary.

...and, windshield mountings really need some way to eliminate the cable. Possibly a "wireless" TX/RX-kit that eliminates the cable; ie: something like that used by wireless "mice" for computers (ha,ha)?

...only on one "end" as the OBDII connector already has voltage.

Blah, I know, someone scheduled this before it was ready to go... I've been waiting for Darin to make the page, but he has been busy doing modifications to the team competition stuff.

I have an ultragauge but I used the mount for the suction and made a make shift binder clip and clip it to my vent. I don't like things on my window. I keep my on my driver side vent. Just a thought.

They have a bluetooth device that you hook up to the obd2 port and then use a phone app but I prefer my setup as I don't have to dedicate my phone to the screen readouts but maybe a company like ultra or scanguage can use the bluetooth idea.

The ScanGauge Mount is now available in the EcoModder Store!

It is a nice little piece for those who want a clean mounting solution or don't have a nice nook to stuff the Scangauge (or MPGuino) in.

I've been using one on my Prius for a while now and I love it.
