Yeah Tony the rear sway bar links were shot. I have found although more complex than the VW, the parts are pretty inexpensive.
It has old school valve lash You use two special shaped wrenches 14mm wrenches. Supposed to be done every 15k. I doubt if was done in the last 7 years.
The automatic climate control would either give heat or cold but not automatic. A foam hose had rotted out. The little vent is the air intake for it.
The engine has a vacuum system that controls a lot of functions (climate control, power brakes, door locks and partially the transmission) as it would in the gas powered car. If the vacuum is lost the engine will stay running, the key won't shut it off.. You have to pop the hood and push the stop lever. The good side of that is that if your battery is going out, you can pop a vacuum hose loose and keep going with a dead battery.
I still have things to do on it. a little repainting. replace the shocks, and check the flex discs.
As far as doing aero mods, I want to make a fiberglass below the bumper shield to cover the front of the tires and maybe some side panels below the doors.
It is a pretty cool car.
