I should be able to.

My wife dropped the vacation right on top of SEMA. I think I'll be able to get out of it. The vacation that is.

Once things are more certain, I will let you know.

It was a toss up between cruising around the Great Barrier Reef and New Zealand for a month or going to SEMA for a few days. After almost 30 years of marriage, you would have thought she would have already known the answer.

My son will take my place shepherding his Mom and Grand-Mom around if he can get out of his college classes. But he wants me to pay him back by swapping the OM617 turbo diesel in his Mercedes with an OM606 he got the other year. It sounds fair.

WOW I think I would take the cruising around paradise over the SEMA show. lol

The turbo swap sounds like something I would be doing. My price is a lot cheaper though. Usually a nice bottle of wine will buy me every time.

It all does sound backwards on the surface.

I just find cruise ships utterly confining. I don't mind the stops at the ports of call. I just find the constant eating and shows and midnight parties to be draining after the first few days. The problem is the itinerary - she has stacked two 10 day cruises back to back. I'll end up jumping ship half way through with Great White sharks as a welcome relief. The last cruise on the Freedom of the Seas around the Caribbean was bearable as they had numerous technical tours that allowed me some run of the engineering spaces which made for a much more enjoyable time between dives off the Grand Caymans and Cozumel. And, they had a library with a large collection of Clive Cussler novels which kept me busy for a time - I read quite rapidly.

The engine swap was becoming a family problem as my son purchased the twin cam 606 diesel engine from our neighbor, who lunched the car in a rain storm, only to have his mother call dibs on it. I had to buy a 603 turbo to pacify her. I am just about done with swapping the KKK turbo with the more common American made Garrett. Of course she wants it set up just like her gasser. So, I will need to order Eibach springs and Enkei 18 inch rims tucked underneath the bodywork which is always problematical with the older Mercedes wheel wells.

And I work for pizzas. I'm a sucker for a savory pie.
