Simple Question

I'm driving a 2003 Chevy Malibu and will install a grill block for this winter. Should I be worried about overheating here in lovely Iowa, or bite the bullet and get an after-market temp gauge?

You should have no problems running a top grill block all year round.

If you don't have a gauge and want to add one for peace of mind go for it.

Simple answer

NO, don't worry about blocking it. In Ohio, I block the entire grill of my pick-up and remove the mechanical fan for the winter. I won't need it again until April or May. I leave the grill block on year round.
