Small changes to improve cab-over camper aero

I'm picking up a pop-up FWC cab-over camper later that I'll be stripping to the frame and rebuilding, so I have the opportunity to make some small changes that might help with aero. The camper is a 1980 fwc granby that I'll be making a little more narrow at the base to fit onto a 2nd gen, 4 cylinder Tacoma.

I saw this thread a while back, talking about putting a fairing in front of each corner of the camper behind the cab; I could angle the front corners on mine 45 degrees. Kind of depends on how well it goes welding on the aluminum frame what kind of changes I'll feel comfortable making. I've also thought about making something to deflect air over the front (gap) of the camper; this would probably be mounted to the truck, though, and not the camper.

I'm optimistic that I'll be able to get 20 mpg on the highway if I don't drive to fast. The truck with camper shell currently gets about 22 mpg @ 70mph.

Does anyone have any clever ideas that I might want to look into?

Please post a photo of your truck and the pop-up camper.

The corner below is troublesome (similar to yours?), but drag is at the rear.

changes

Do a search for NASA's Shoebox project.
Anything you can do to soften the leading edges around the sides and kick the air gently onto the roof will pay dividends.
