I advocate that people spend their money where they derive enjoyment. If someone watches a lot of TV, then buy a nice TV. If someone enjoys RV travels, buy a nice RV...
My grandfather had plenty of money, but would spend very carefully. I encouraged him to buy the vehicle that brought him joy, and he did. He wanted to visit Europe, but we never made that a priority, and now it's too late.
I took grandfather's Chevy Colorado truck camping; the vehicle he enjoyed for a few months before his death. The truck returned 21 MPG, which is not bad considering the load.
The quads returned 40 smiles per gallon, however. The fuel tank is 3.4 gallons. In 40 miles of off-road riding, we used maybe 1/3 of a tank, or maybe about a gallon, which is not bad.
What things deliver the most smiles per gallon for you?
