If the genset is 22kw and run by a 40hp or smaller motor and uses .06gph or less for each KW.
I would say we have a winner.

well ya know!

If ya bought in and went full ev household because your electric lawnmower did pretty well and its the rite thing to do for the world in "general"
Then for instance grandma gets a bad health issue friday morning, would you not go see her as quickly as possible?
Ive always felt full electric to be a mistake for this alone Ideal. A hybrid runs on batteries till ya get deep into the throttle or deep into trip so whats the diff?
So go hybrid ADD some range extender batteries and sell your used Hybrid with unused unless emergency ICE to me in 3 years then everyone is happy!

PS. Your EV is not without a massive ecological cost read up on rare earth mining and cadmium, Nickel and such to just get started then move on from there.
I am not opposed to EV just realistic I think we will learn more later on as they become more popular.
I still await my flying car!

Did you see some specs on it? I didn't. 30kw (40hp) engine making 22kw sounds like a 27% loss before powering traction motors or etc, real "winner"

I think it is kinda stupid though, plug in hybrid is the right all-around tool, range extender is a "show my EV car off in other cities" tool, but still they automate so much in hybrids that it is hard to realize their full efficiency potential.

At the wheels few 40hp gassers would put down anywhere near 40 hp most are lucky if they put down 78% of the original rating, which also is fluffy.

That said you missed the .06gph per 1000 watt, that rating which exists in gensets cannot be achieved by any over the road engine I know of (if we convert hp to watts for the direct drive eq.)

The HP rating of the genset motor is completely meaningless, but the fuel consumption for a given output of electricity is.

Many genset engines don't actually operate at their peak HP rating anyways...

Obviously if I drive a lead acid EV I am wasting exotic minerals like lead and copper and become incapable of flying to see my grandmother 1500 miles away.
