I think they are the same thing.

there are different similar products around. some is just the film. some is the film with a thicker backing to make it more durable. and you can also find the film laminated to a thin foam or bubble-wrap insulation. not sure what the relative pricing is on any on them, though.

I'm pretty sure they're not the same thing. Space blankets come pre-folded and those folds break the micro thin layer of aluminum (shine a light through one to see). The sandwich of mylar (a non-conductive material) and micro thin aluminum and then another layer of mylar is the technology behind space blankets. If you can eliminate the conductive properties of aluminum and use its heat reflecting properties at the same time you're in business. But space blankets suffer a death of a thousands cuts .... or folds as it would be.

welcome to em cowgirl. have you checked to see if you have air leakage in the house at all. you might even be albe to have the power company come out and check stuff for free
