The speed of venturi

Tinkering with the old sube, I replaced the plenum for a little mr. gasket on this 1987 GL with the little 1781cc engine.

it became very open and musch faster after a few rumbles out the back end. Had a cold top end like an old hemi. boxers breathe easy, one of the traits used to be how small a carb could stay for the 12 second quarter mile, still making a jackass out of the planet and evil marketing.

I put a pc bay case cover in the front of the filter to slow it down, and it increased fuel mileage by speeding up venturi to maintain its comfortable volume for the timing and fuel settings. The answer for exact fuel mileage can only be accomplished the old fashioned way, and plan on doing so soon enough....I know with no doubts is in the high 20s again beating on the little buggy, and high 40s highway in the high 70s mph with snow treaded 15 inch peugeot wheels. (The original size was 13 inch and horrifying). I hope to inspire use of carbs and carb timings. As we all know injection is a failure for truth of economy. Assume I am joking, and keep paying...

I spotted a classic beetle for 800 bucks locally...I am so tempted to take on another 3 main boxer project...
