As said, you can get far cheaper velomobiles, even when you add some electric support engine.

But they're all fairly expensive due to the high degree of manual labour that goes into them, and which is very expensive here.
Then add our state tax / VAT - around 20% in most of Europe - and things go sour quickly.

Pretty funny reading about plans about the same thing I started in 2003 with a Currie (bolt-on can motor) in 2001 and ended up building enclosed in 2003. The hub motor came in 2007 but that business is gone. Expensive upgrades made it impracticle for use now- harder than "Heqq" to get into and hard to rebuild since a lot of parts are not made anymore. Still have the streamliner shell and doors but the convertible top and all 3 Lexan windows are shot. Enjoyable remeniscing!

A mountain bike based e-bike with a Vetter style fairing will do the trick for about $3000 USD. If you are a dedicated DIYer then you might put together something for less than half that. Trikes are fun but some folks like the higher seat height of an upright bike in traffic.

I like how the front of that bike opens up for the landing gear to deploy!

For some reason I keep thinking that it would be easier to aeromod a recumbent than an upright, but I think that part of that wanting three wheels if I am going to build a cage around myself.

I have actually seen girls riding tricycles on campus.

They went slowly.

When I left school I passed thirteen cars and one motorcycle stopped behind one car waiting to turn left at a light.

Sometimes bikes are way faster than cars!

However, people like to say crazy things like "Just as long as some driver does not get upset about a bike passing his car and hit you with his door!"

A two wheeler has less width at about 26 inches for splitting lanes. I stop the fairings at the knee for two reasons. A leg below the knee has less drag than extending a full width fairing. Putting a foot down at the stop sign is much easier. If you want a delta trike, use it on a tandem, LWB recumbent, or let the front wheel be a good bit larger than the rears ala the Big Wheels toy trike. Every bike deserves a fairing. A rider in the aero tuck on an upright has the same frontal area as a typical recumbent. Believe it or not a lap belt goes a long way in saving your noggin if running into something.
