In looking at the spec for new cars I see in some cases the small cars with automatic trans or CVT trans get better mileage than the manual trans. Our son has a Versa with a CVT and I am curious how that will work for him.

Autos do better in official tests only because they don't have the prescribed shift points that manuals do. This is something being fixed when the new 'real world' standard comes in soon.
