Looks like my best tank and haven't really done anything...

545km (just shy of 340 mi) and approx 3/8's of a tank left, was only getting 600km to 650km before on a average 55 liter fill up. Starting a gas log after this next fill up but if I can get to the point were I'm getting 750 to 800 out of her I'll be down to just a tank a week.

So far the only thing I've changed is tire pressure up to 44psi on all 4 tires, and both me and my fiancée began EOC'ing

Plans for the summer include
  • Start using factory block heater once we move
  • Scan gauge as of next pay or pay after (Depending on moving costs)
  • Synthetic low weight oil
  • Front grill block
  • Belly Pan
  • Possible alt delete

Moving out of the city two weeks from now and will be doing a 150km (95 mi) return commute 95% all highway although hilly terrain this current tank has allot of highway miles on it as well but I'm expecting a bit more of an increase when when I move.

Great Job! On the whole, I make the claim that 50% of your MPG gain will come from changing the way you drive.

We both drive quite conservatively, but I know there is more to be gained there. 50% though would shock me. Here's hoping anyways!

1. Move the ScanGauge higher up on the priority list.

2. Great to know you and your fiancee both EOC. Your 2.4L Altee has to use EOC to get any better on FE. For comparison, my wife is so tentative a driver, it is a hazard to have her glance at the MPGuino, let alone using any EOC.

3. Alternator delete is a bad idea, if you are going in for aggressive EOC. I guess that high up north, you would also be required to have permanent DRL, at least. I am perpetually worried about not being able to crank. Your weather will further exacerbate the battery situation. However if you have convenient ways of charging the battery through the mains grid, by plugging it in at home or at work, you can think of deleting alternator. It may not net you all that much, but will raise your inconvenience level in using the vehicle immediately. Tread cautiously here.

4. Get the thinner oil at the next change/ next car service. Buy it in advance at leisure, so you don't have to compromise at the time of servicing your car because the best grade/brand is not stocked.

5. SG, grill block, belly pan are stuff that you can do, and not feel any disadvantage, and start saving straightaway. You can probably use the grill block all year long, because of the cold prevailing there.

All the best!

What CarlosSW says. Slowing down gives the best, and immediate, returns for effort. My SE-R gets 26 mpg at 72 mph. It gets 34 mpg at 62 mph, and 38 mpg at 55 mph.

Grill block, and I removed the rear spoiler. Mostly, I slowed down.
