Yes, the '02 and newer US Spec Altimas use the same 2.5 L engine that's in the Spec Vs. The 2.4 L truck engine that's in your '00, combined with the previous generation's smaller size, give us close to the same EPA ratings. I've gotten half a dozen 45+ mpg tanks, so you may be able to match me, especially if you have a manual transmission. If you don't, you won't, and you shouldn't be EOCing.

Just thinking out loud as I'm not planning to do this for another month or two, with a full grill block and and belly pan would header wrap help the fan from kicking in as much/long? I realize the engine temps are going to be just as high but it might keep the engine compartment cooler allowing the rad to be a bit more efficient.



And yes its a five speed manual

Header wrap should help keep the engine compartment temperatures down.

If you can keep your freeway speeds down, your long commute should allow you to achieve a high 30 mpg average, I would think. Slowing down accounts for about 75% of my mpg improvement. Advanced techniques like P&G and DWB account for the remaining 25%.
