I thought the lady who had her car hit by the train should have gap insurance.

Ive watched a lot of youtube train accidents and it seems they lay on the whistle before it hits, then slam on the emergency brake after it hits. Why not slam the brake before, then lay on the whistle while it rolls to a stop?

On another note, how about that engineer and the level of training in that railroad? Being alert and reacting quickly is great and we should all hope for that. Bringing the train to a complete stop before grabbing the phone to call it in is even better.

1. Buy a car that you can't drive, but need because it's expensive and will impress people with how much money you have.
2. Prove exactly how far you are from being able to drive it, and destroy it in the process.
I would prefer step 3 to involve more of a penalty than 15 minutes of anonymous Youtube disgrace- like the penalty that gap insurance covers.

They probably hit the brakes afterwards because the train's emergency brakes are to stop it, not to bleed off a few mph in order to avoid a collision. It could easily have some one time use parts that need to be replaced or reset before continuing. If you're not going to stop the train before the collision, the procedure probably calls for doing whatever else you can to prevent the collision even if you know it's useless.
