Team Pontiac Thread.

Well other teams have threads so I'll start one too. As of day one of Team Pontiac we are at the 21 of 33 thanks to Daox's tank on his sunfire. He is the only other member of the team though. (note to self: drive more so you can fill up and contribute to the team. Pull your own weight don't make everyone else do all the work.) That's not bad for the first day though.

Check out the current standings here Ecomodder Team Standings
If you have a pontiac and haven't joined the team do that hereTeam Pontiac!

Anyway if you have anything to post about that might not need it's own thread or that you want to keep out of a build thread to keep it uncluttered feel free to post it here. If you want to know what I'm doing read below.

I'm working on an active grille block right now for my sunfire and an update of the OBDuino which I call the OBDuino 2. Yes it's very original I know. But if you join the team before I finish it I'll let you name it something better. If you can think of something better which should be pretty hard. :P

Ok that's all for now.

Welcome! I've not been much help either (yet).

Daox 06-18-2014 10:45 AM

Not too shabby off the bat. If we can manage just a 3 mpg increase for the team we can jump into the teens. :)

My next tank will hopefully be bringing my average up by that much.

backpacker3 06-18-2014 11:06 AM

I might go out later ad see where my tank is at if it's at the half way point I'll put up a guesstimated mileage based off of that. It's probably going to be pretty bad since all but two or three trips have been pretty short like 3 miles or less but maybe I'll be surprised.

backpacker3 06-18-2014 01:07 PM

Ok so I used just over 1/4 of a tank I figured it to be 4.20 gallons and I actually did pretty good 29ish mpg! Not bad for all city driving and most trips being 3 miles or less.

Edit: and were now at #23 on the standings

nemo 06-21-2014 08:38 AM

Anyone others?

Daox 06-21-2014 08:48 AM

I'll PM a bunch of guys who have made fill ups in the last couple months to see if they want to join up. :)

Edit: Just sent a PM out to 8 guys. We'll see who joins up.

backpacker3 06-21-2014 12:20 PM

I've seen a few pontiac around here hopefully we get a few more to join. I think we could probably even be a rival to team honda.

backpacker3 06-22-2014 08:48 AM

Wow we got two more users and were now at number 19 and we have our first firefly on the team! (thanks rednic) a few more of those and we'll be in really good shape. Doesn't MetroMPG have a firefly too?

Gealii 06-22-2014 09:08 AM

Joined, and luckily for us i just got a new job and now drive 90% highway so I should now be seeing lower 30s every fill-up :D

nemo 06-22-2014 09:45 AM

Great! You can make up for my low use in town miles. :D

backpacker3 06-22-2014 12:14 PM

Good to have you here!

ssnsvibe09 06-22-2014 07:59 PM

Thanks for the invite. I was looking for team pontiac some time ago when I first joined. I think my nearly 40 mpg will help some

backpacker3 06-22-2014 08:34 PM

Welcome! It looks like you're mileage has already help as were up to #18 now.

Daox 06-23-2014 09:11 AM

Yay, its good to see some others join up. Lets keep working up the ladder. :)

Daox 06-23-2014 01:33 PM

There is a link under your name/avatar under Bluebird. There really isn't a central location/link to it... I'll pester Darin about that and we'll get one put somewhere.

Daox 06-25-2014 10:01 AM

I need to hike up the suspenders and get to work. I'm ranked next to last on our team! Doh. :)

Daox 06-25-2014 10:02 AM

Also, thanks to all the others who joined up.

backpacker3 06-27-2014 10:13 AM

Well we've been holding steady at #19 for about a week now. That's not bad for a newer team. There's a few people I sent out some messages to that have pontiacs that I've seen while reading on here so we'll see if they join. If they do we should end up around the #16 slot!

davelobi 06-27-2014 11:00 PM

18!

18, up one!!
Now to pass Nissan in the 17 slot...
35.09 (Nissan) - 33.98 (us) = 1.11 mpg +.01 (to put us ahead of Nissan)=
1.12 mpg gain

edit: I hope to replace my slipping clutch soon. Should help my numbers a little. In the meantime I'll look to improve my next tank a good chunk since I only have one entry so far in my 90 day average it will have a bigger impact than those of you with lots of entries. I mean, a 2 mpg gain on my next tank will raise my 90 day average by a whole one mpg since it will be half of my entries right?

backpacker3 06-28-2014 08:31 AM

Awesome! Good to have you here!

I've got a road trip next week so I'm hoping I can get at least 35 coming and going that would help out a lot too. I'm figuring I might need around 5ish fill ups to get to KY and back.

davelobi 06-28-2014 01:34 PM

just did another short fill-up hoping for a little better than first tank. Only changed (for the better at least) just under a tenth of a mile per. I need a tank run with all back roads near me where I can run a steady 45-50 and keep off the freeway to get a nice jump. Under 50mph in 5th gear is what the gas gauge will like.

backpacker3 07-01-2014 01:13 PM

Well I got bored so I tried finding the frontal area of my car I think I got it calculated it was about 20 sq ft based on the measurements on Wikipedia. I started looking for the cd the cavalier is in the wiki on here but not the sunfire so I just used that I figure it should be close enough to not make a difference.

I'm also thinking about buying either a scangauge or ultragauge while I'm developing the OBDuino 2. I'd just be getting a used one so I'll see if I can find any good deals on ebay or something.

Yeah that was the formula I used so it should be right or at least close to being right.

Btw you should join the team! You could bump us up to #17

Yeah I know that. But this is a matrix of the 03-04 years
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...rix_Avenue.JPG
And this is a 04 vibe
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...ntiac_Vibe.jpg

So they aren't 100% percent the same. Technically I could say that the sunfire is a rebadged cavalier and is therefore a chevy or vice versa. I say just go with the badge on the front. But I might be biased ;)

davelobi 07-03-2014 01:35 PM

Still driving the slipping clutch, putting off the project. I am however feeling good about this current tank. Lots of back country road driving where I can cost along at 50 (or less) with very little freeway. Some city with lights tho. Sneaking in a little eoc as well. I'll report in when I fill the tank but I'm running this one lower than usual because I'm going to give Cataclean a try (despite the cost) for my catalyst check light.
Hopefully bring up the team average a wee bit if tank is better like expected.
We make any gains on Nissan yet?

backpacker3 07-03-2014 03:03 PM

No gains on nissan yet I'm going to have a few fillups tomorrow so we'll see what happens then. It'll be all highway but I'll be loaded with camping and climbing gear plus food and a few gallons of water. The weather should be nice enlightenment that I won't need AC so that's a plus I'm not sure how many passengers I'll have though.

davelobi 07-03-2014 03:34 PM

A/C, what's that? HA, I drive my passengers nuts.

I dare (highly recommend) you to try a whole tank at 62 mph on the freeway tomorrow . You will be happily amazed.

backpacker3 07-03-2014 04:16 PM

Yeah I was planning on going around that speed. Well see I'm hoping I win the SG e I'm bidding on and I should get that next week.

backpacker3 07-03-2014 05:16 PM

Hey Daox I've seen a few threads that have a ecorenovator link at the top for all pages in a separate box, is it possible to get links to the Team Pontiac page as well as the ecomodder team standings pages as well on this thread for quicker access?

backpacker3 07-04-2014 08:57 AM

Two fills so far 26 and 33.7 mpg check my build thread for more info on them.

backpacker3 07-06-2014 02:56 PM

30 mpg fill today. We need less than 1 mpg to get team nissan I might be able to pul this off today!

davelobi 07-07-2014 05:52 PM

Well, my first two tanks on the vibe were over 42 and now I just logged a 45+ mpg tank. Went nice n easy and added in a few miles of eoc to help bump it up.
I just added an air dam and lower grill block this afternoon with the trusty old garden edging. We'll see what the next tank brings. Can't seem to add a pic from phone. I'll try the computer later.

Daox 07-07-2014 05:56 PM

Very nice Dave.
