Tire and rim recommenations?
 

I have a 92 civic vx with stock 13" wheels and some kumho tires.

It's time for a tire replacement but since they don't really make 13" tires anymore I'm going to get either 14 or 15" rims. I'm leaning towards 15s because there will be a bigger selection of tires for that size.

As for tires, the most two most important aspects are LRR and quietness. Which ones are best?

Yeah 13s are pretty much a dead rim size. Your only option is Chinese made junk, I don't believe they know the difference between a trailer tire and a DOT passenger vehicle tire.
Same thing is happening to 14s too, most manufacturers are dumping 14.
A few manufactures have even started dropping 15 inch from their lineup. But other wise 15s are going pretty strong.

You need to determine the diameter of the factory size. Go to tire rack. Com and look up size.
Then look for a diameter about 6-9% larger in a 15" tire. Try not to get too wide.
By increasing the diameter you will improve you mpg because you are lowering you rpm at cruise speeds.

Wait. I have 13" VX wheels. I bought 175/70-R13 Michelin Defender low rolling resistance tires for them just last year. Tires are great. Love em. But I did a bit of research on other wheel options in the past and posted some of it in my garage page for reference.

I've been wanting Kosei K4Rs or Enkei RPF-1s for a while, can't really justify them on my car which is worth so little but since you're switching anyways I'd go for the Kosei, they're such good bang for the buck at a little over 100 bucks a pop.

I second mcrews suggestion for a taller tire.

How quiet are they? I read some reviews and some people say they are really noise and others say they are quiet

Well, I drive a 98 Civic with all of the interior behind the front seats stripped out and I pump the tires to 60psi, so I would not be a good judge of the tires' noise contribution!

Another thing to consider from the ultra LRR OE tires is tread depth of 8/32 and under is ideal for LRR, so simply finding used LRR tires with a tread depth guage may be a more efficient choice over all, especially if they were a 90k mile tire when new.

I also have a Honda Civic VX.

I'm looking to get a set of new tires for my daily driver. I prefer summer tires for maximum grip, etc. only because I'll eventually have a dedicated set of tires & rims for winter. My tire size is 165/70R13.

I'm not sure what I'm looking for. I mostly want to get quieter tires that also still achieve a good MPG.
