Toyota Aqua

Official Release

Toyota announces new Aqua (aka Prius C in US).
Previous Prius C failed due to poor economy - despite compact size and lightweight, it was less efficient than original Prius.
But it still has big success in JP.

New Aqua claims up to 84 MPG (2.8 L/100km) - looks realistic, while it is not(!) PHEV.
Interesting part is that it uses new battery technology NiH2 (do notconfuse with NiMH and not Li* like in new Priuse or Yaris).

I hope to see it in the global market outside JP.

Sure it will also be available in markets where the Prius badge is seen as more prestigious than fitting this same driveline into a Yaris, to a greater extent than how the regular Prius may be seen as more desirable than a hybrid Corolla. On a sidenote, since the Corolla got the hybrid option in my country, I have seen fewer new Priuses roaming around.

In Europe we have Yaris in this segment. But Yaris looks like a s#*t. I would prefer to have Aqua.

I guess you didn't see the Thai version of the Yaris, which is also assembled in my country. That's ugly.
