Toyota Concept 2020's Moon "Grill"??

https://car.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/news/1203042.html

So they've gotten rid of most of the nose, smoothed out the front wheel covers a little, but those rear wheel "speaker grill"-like covers??

I wonder if they know something aerodynamic we didn't know.... Or if it's simply for cooling the brakes...

The shape always seems to favor driving in reverse rather than forward.

My guess is the speaker grill retains most of the aerodynamic properties of fully enclosing, while still allowing heat to radiate through. There's somewhere around a 0% chance that would get carried over into production.

I'm not crazy about the look, but then vanity isn't that important to me. As long as vehicles don't have enormous faux grills, I'm fine.

I'm more interested in seeing what all that glass does in an accident. Something tap you in a parking lot and replace the car?

I don't believe that they know anything we don't.

I always liked the 2003 Honda IMAS concept...0.20 coefficient of drag with an upgraded system from what the Insight has should get 70 MPG on the new EPA and over 100 with hypermiling:

I just don't like 2-seaters. Unless it's a serious sports car, it better have 4 minimum.

My preference is a driver's seat and a six foot rack.

Me too, which is why I like the Prius. The 6' rack converts to 3 extra seats when not needed.

The rear bench seat comes out in less than 1 minute and weighs about 3 lbs.
