Looks like an interesting and fun car. Probably not super aero, but also not a horrible base for modification either. Leaked Specs: Toyota SF-R Has 130 HP And Weighs 2160 Lbs - Art of Gears Quote:

Im surprised its not just a rebadged frs/brz? Why go through all the trouble?
Edit: Forgot they already sell the toyota ae86 in japan. This looks a bit smaller, is this likely to come to the states? |
Can't be sure what the marketing rationale is, but it is quite a bit smaller car, like the Miata.
FRS - 166.9 inches long / 2,758–2,806 lbs SF-R - 157.0 inches long / 2160 lbs |
Jalopnik has had several articles about it. It looks like a fun little car.
And cheap! That $12,500 number will likely not happen, but it sounds like it will still be one of the cheapest cars on the market if they bring it here. I'd bet they sell a ton of them. |
And i thought the fr-s was small. My brother in law has one of the limited production TRD models. Its a nice car, very low to the ground, handles great, lacking on power a bit. 250 torque/hp would make the car a lot more enjoyable.

Need to do something about that grille - makes the car look like a sucker fish :-(
|
Hopefully, most people think the grill is too big, although I imagnie someone would say it should be bigger.
How much of it would be open anyway? |
I'll take the size, weight and MPG penalty and drive an FRS instead. There are ugly cars on the road and then there are UGLY cars.

Well, I drive a Metro, will probably own an iMiEV for my next car... lets just say style isn't huge on my list, haha.
That being said, I do like the looks of the SF-R. Here are a few more pics that do it a bit more justice from: Toyota S-FR tech specs revealed (130 HP / 2160 lbs)) http://ecomodder.com/forum/attachmen...1&d=1448372062 http://ecomodder.com/forum/attachmen...1&d=1448372062 http://ecomodder.com/forum/attachmen...1&d=1448372062 |
If maximum performance/fun is desired, and only 2 seats is required, a sportbike will fit the bill for ~$10k. I don't really see the point of sporty cars anymore unless money is burning a hole in your pocket and you need to get rid of it in a hurry.
There is a good chance the iMEV will be my next car too, and it will replace the sporty/luxury TSX in my stable. As far as the car goes, I'm not a fan of the "look at me" grill. If you want to draw that much attention, you had better actually be fast. I suppose we live in a society where perception is > reality. |
