Transmission Choice

Hi All.... I have a transmission from a GM Gas Engine connected to a Mercedes Benz Diesel Motor,
My Question is...If i Put on a Tranny from a GM Diesel Motor with Diesel Torque Converter...Would that make a difference???

Thanks!

Without doing any research, this is a educated guess, but here it is.

Yes, if you switch it over to a transmission from a diesel, it would work better and get better mileage. The diesel motor is optimized at a lower speed than a gasoline engine. They typically accomadate these differences in the transmission and/or the differential.

If they made the accomadation in the differential, then you should be able to just switch the differential out, for one that is geared for a diesel.

The one thing you will also need to find out, if you make either of these changes is what change you will also need to make, to get the speedometer to report the correct speed.

I hope this helps, a little.
