We need an aerodynamic houses thread.

When I was younger, I wanted a backpack harness with two asymmetrical Rogallo wings tied together by the cross bar. You could ask if that would work.

When I was younger I jumped off the roof with umbrellas to see if Mary Poppins had any truth to her traveling ways.

Anyhow, I have my own Cybertruck now:

I personally will bet the Tesla truck in final production trim will not have the lowest Cd of a full size pickup in 2022. I bet it won't even beat a 2015 model from Ram at .360.

here is a more in depth review that got .48 which would be 2000's pickup truck bad. Every modern pickup beats that. That .48 was even still without mirrors.

That's bad. If it had the trapezoid rear and front chamfers, I'd trace it onto 0.040" polystyrene.

I have that memory too, but I suspect it was implanted rather than actual. We had a treehouse we'd jump out of to prove how tough we were.

Using the detailed analysis above, it shows 30 kw/hr at 65 mph. So it needs a 225 kWh battery for a 500 mile range. I have a feeling they also aren't accounting for the added rolling resistance of mud terrain tires but maybe those won't make production.

Some people could have some time using a sheet metal bending brake and a little bit more lengths of LED light strips...

Would a boat tail do any good or would it just dangle about in the wake?

So 500 watt hr a mile? REALLY? I kinda plan on 450 in my ranger, no aero primitive as heck rolling brick.

My WAG was 200 kWh for 500 mile range. Nice round numbers.

The author neglects to mention these new sharp front corners are feeding Air-Curtains for the front wheels and the pressure is being redirected. This lack of understanding and attempt to tie it into other things such as minimum radius on the Ford Flex concept (actually called 2005 Ford Fairlane Concept) leads to some distorted assumptions and conclusions in my opinion.

If the author only had used images to prove his/her point much confusion could have been avoided.

The so-called boxy aerodynamically superior concept used as an article example - image below.

https://www.topspeed.com/cars/ford/2...ne-ar1422.html

The allegedly less boxy production version below.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Flex

I find the example provided less than convincing about rounded shapes, and perhaps a lesson on grille blocks and other front openings.

Thank you for posting the article, as it shows how much eductaion has yet to be done - starting with Life Style authors like PHIL PATTON.
