Truck and cargo trailer

Hi I'm fairly new around here but have already increased my mpg using some of the easy tips so I'm sold
I drive a chevy silverado ext cab med bed and I tow a 12x5 vnose cargo trailer what mods can I make between the truck and trailer to optimize aerodynamics cause that trailer empty kills MPG
I have about a year to make mods before I have a really long run to make so I have the time and I have the ability
The first things I plan to do is belly pan both modify the fenders on the trailer and add a tonneau cover
I'd like to make a sloped bed cover but I'm thinking making one specifically for use when towing would be better
Would a boat tail and side skirts help on the trailer
Any help for this rookie would be appreciated

Pics would help. Make some throw-away comments until you get your five in.

It's a long way from truck w/ trailer to mpg, and you'll need to touch every point in between. What is your use case?

BamZipPow and aerohead have led the way.

Were it I, I'd make overlapping curved ribs, like an armadillo shell.

What do you mean "use case" and explain curved ribs

"Proposed typical use senario"

I figure alternate ribs would pivot at the center line, then at the mid-line.
