UG help

ok i got my GF an ultra gauge for the birthday for her 06 charger. we got it installed and programed. but for some reason when she makes a trip turns the car off with no issue. but when she is ready to leave she has to un plug the UG to get it to turn on. So basically she has to unplug the OBDII and plug it back in after every trip. any ideas?

Per the UG manual, you may want to check the vehicle's OBD-II connector pins for corrosion. I'd run a continuity check on the power and ground pins for a poor solder joint, too.

There are two modes in the UltraGauge that detect engine start. You need to change the selection most likely for it to detect engine start. Look it up in the manual. I gotta run!

Had a moment:

Power on Detect mode

Bottom of page 34 in the Manual.

Menu->Ultragauge setup (version 8/24/10 or later).

"Mode 1 Will always detect correctly, but uses more power while the vehicle is off. This mode should only be used if Mode 2 fails detection.

Mode 2 is the recommended mode and uses less power while the vehicle is off. Mode 2 is the factory default. Mode 2 is ignored for vehicles with 9141 and KWP 2000 protocol."

Mode 2 does not work with my car (97 Ford Contour V6 Auto) so I had to select mode 1.
