They were on the rear only on the SAAB 95, but my MGB's had lever shocks front and rear. I never bothered rebuilding them, just kept adding oil as it leaked out.

Check in the VW family. I believe that some of their cars (Passats??) are FWD with a longitudinal engine and transmission.
