Without stiffeners or attachment points of very short span the belly will want to flutter like a drum head and could self-destroy itself unless you get some 'thickness',so the 3-layer approach sounds pretty good.

I was going to try starting on this setup this week, but now I have to use it for work because the trailer broke down!! �� But I'm going to see about getting everything to do this in 2-3 weeks!!
