Vacuum/boost gauge on diesel, theory?

I dont come any where close to 6psi during normal driving, usually its 2psi or less.
EGTs are about 600'F.

I ordered a vacuum/boost gauge, should have it in a few days.
39 years ago I had a nice sun vacuum gauge on a toyota, renault then oldsmobile finally a mercury land boat, for some reason I didn't take it out before I sold it.
Here is my new one:

I think I will mount it on top of the steering column. of Benzilla.

First to check the amount of boost and air cleaner performance then to work on economy.

I have found that on my TD the gauge is useful. At 60 mph the gauge is usually at 5 psi. So I just use it like one of the old vacuum gauges except that I want less boost pressure instead of more vacuum.
