Villa D Este Concors Aero Specials
I had the luck to be working at the Villa D Este Concors D'elegance in Como Italy this last week. So many beautiful cars, many of them aero one offs & even a few speed record cars.
Thought you might like to see some of these rarities
The winner
The speed record Jaguar, complete with its original driver
Loved this Pininafarina concept on an Alfa chassis
Found this in the car park
& My Fastback ride for the week
Have a look here if you want to see the entries in google

I think it might be BMW 328 Touring Coupe (1939) Superleggera, I think it was a BMW Museum car, the winner an Alfa Romeo the white one.

There was also a one-off BMW Mille Miglia of that time period which is owned and was restored by a fella in California. That car was attributed with Cd 0.26 if I recall correctly. It is a Jaray Kombination-form and descendent of a 1924 DIXI.

So who's deciding there isn't a market for aerodynamic features like pointy tails, wheel skirts, and the like ?
Even after so many years, they still drive car nuts , well, nuts !

Streamlining is driven by fuel economy.
When fuel economy peaked in the U.S.A.,the sale of high-mileage automobiles constituted less than 2% of the market.
Our parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews,c ousins, friends, teachers, religious leaders, government purchasing departments, etc. told the automakers (dealers) that they weren't interested in fuel economy.
They told them that they weren't interested in low-drag automobiles.
In 1985 we had the technical feasibility to produce Cd 0.137 automobiles.
No one at the North American Auto Show,Tokyo,Frankfurt,Los Angeles,Milan,or elsewhere, said that they were interested.
As Hucho said in 1985,(paraphrasing)' We'll have automobiles whose drag approaches that of the basic (Cd 0.15) body, when it becomes part of the vehicle's specifications.
Right now,the cart is in front of the horse.Entropy is sexier than efficiency.
