When you buy a car the dealer will ask you what the purpose of the vehicle is, if you say drive around town, to work and back, your needs will most likely be met by gasoline, on the other hand if you travel 100+ miles a day you need something with more range refering to diesel, the majority of people live within 20 miles of there work, so everyone chooses gas, its not good for a diesel engine to make alot of short trips, you burn alot of fuel and it promotes particulate build up, the price being more expensive can off set someone who has no idea about the benefits,
