vortex generators at rear bumper??

Obviously the question of vortex generators may have reached the stage of overkill, i however have a question that came up today as the result of having seen two newer Honda's with vortex generators at the rear bumper.

I am talling BIG vortex Generators at least four accross the bottom of the rear bumper cover..................i would appreciate any one knowing something about the Honda vg's which are stock, built right into the bumper, Would someone please enlighten me re the built in VG'S?
thanks

Got any pictures?

VG's won't work in turbulent flow. There's no chance the flow under the rear of the car is anything but turbulent unless you've got a full, smooth belly pan, (and even then I think it's probably doubtful what with tire interference).

Only 4 on the bottom of the rear? Is that really enough to do anything significant?

I reckon these are just styling devices. The 'rugged' look of skid plates with strengthening ribs is appearing front and back and even on the side of some vehicles.

newer honda's? Pretty sure the SI's come with those, and probably the Si Meugan's. I'll take a look at hondas lineup at work and tell you guys tomorrow night

Thanks for taking the time to check it out, might be interested to know that vette has gone the same route i think the rear bumper covers are close to a grand..............could be all of the after market guys are reading ecomodders and plan on making a profit from our ideas and experimentation,,,,,,,,,,My thoughts

yeah i only saw it on the back of the SI mugen's. It has 3 air splitters on the rear and the exhaust is where number 4 would be. 33K and it gets the worst of civic gas mileage. and it is slower in the 1/4mi then the regular SI too

I for one appreciate yor checking out the Honda's with the Vortex Generators as it is one modification that obviously is all show and no go. They sure look pretty like the ex gal friend, pretty expensive, no loss as i reduced the cars weight by 120 pounds.

Are they VG's or defuser pan?

But unlike the VG's the 120 lb loss made for a quieter ride!
