That VW makes another claim
Beware of tweaked kWh numbers...
VW's new 'Think New' slogan means the new MEB (Modularer Elektrobaukasten) platform. German acronym for Modular Electric Model line-up. The platform is built around a battery pack in between its wheelbase. The target range is 600 km (373 miles). https://twitter.com/MR_AndrewBrady/s...568064/photo/1
Another yuuuge target, expecting 2-3 million VW Group EVs by the year 2025! The new 'E-Golf' will be ready at the end of 2019 as a 2020 year model. Will be teased at the 2016 Paris Auto Show on October 1.

VW will reveal a Golf sized electric family hatchback at the Paris motor show, according to Autocar:
2019 Volkswagen electric hatchback will be 'a mobile device on wheels' | Autocar
Quote:
The Golf-sized electric VW will launch at the Paris show later this month with a range of 250 miles on the NEDC cycle — the equivalent of 400km — around 90 miles more than typical in todays affordable electric cars. ‘A range of 400km is fine for normal life,’ says Senger

The Volkswagen Bus Is Back And Now It's Electric
From an earlier article:
Quote:
... the car will have the exterior dimensions of a Golf but the same interior space as a Passat. Following the car's debut as a prototype at the Paris motor show, it should be launched officially in late 2018 or early 2019.

Comparable range and size to the Chevy Bolt but arriving later.
I wonder whether it will resemble the Golf shaped concept drawing or what of the Transporter like Budd-e will filter through.

If they built a 4 seat version of the XL1 with a electric drivetrain, that would be great.

Probably the cleanest (figuratively), most attractive and non-quirky EV design yet. VW, now put those diesels away and make great EVs.
Tesla-like clean nose and a latent smile. You guys can still plug in a boattail or even rig some 'plasma actuator' spoilers.
Those roof discs are probably perimeter sensors/equipment for autonomous autopilot driving/riding.

Diesels have their place.
The volt for example would get nearly double the city "fuel economy" with a diesel range extender.
Perhaps laws need to be modified to allow special use vehicles, box be damned.
XL1 is a great example of a car that should be pollution exempt
