Vx shirt light- intermittent

So, I was going a few weeks of getting 49 mpg on a regular basis. Last week I got 39. Sometimes my VX supply works like normal, but other times I do not think it works at all. I am more concerned about this being a problem with the engine and not just the shift light.
Does the vx have a iacv in addition to the eacv? I may want to take it off

anyway, any ideas of what would cause the shift light not to work? and clean it.
