Well here we go again! another hurricane headed for louisiana!
So we have another hurricane that is going to hit Louisiana on the same date katrina hit and the oil companies are evacuating the oil rigs and refineries, not that i blame them but that means gas shoots up again and the results of our time efforts modding and miling get magnified. Any thoughts? Just something i have been thinking about.

Higher gas cost is a small price, the loss for others may be greater. Katrina was a category 5, at this time Isaac is a Category 1, should cause less destruction and hopefully, no loss of life.

Very true, hopefully they are better prepared and the hurricane doesn't get much stronger.

Katrina was a Cat 3 when it hit New Orleans, and Isaac could be up to a 2 by the time it hits. And that is only the wind -- rain is another big piece that can be very damaging.
We'll know after tomorrow...
Edit: Isaac is slow moving (~10mph) and the rain could be up to 20 inches!

That is a scary amount of rain, even if it takes 2 days...

Could also cause some fuel shortages up the east coast if this hurricane shuts down the Colonial Pipeline for more than a day or two like Katrina did. In 2005, the resultant gas shortages and price runups were what initially got me started into aeromodding.

I felt the peripheral cross wind this morning all the way over in Columbus, GA!
Maybe a price hike would help me to convince my wife to start hypermiling! (silver lining?)
I hate watching the her ultraguage when she is driving. open loop, then closed loop, back to open, back to closed. We've had enough fights about it and she must know something is wrong by the way I cringe when she stomps on the throttle. Any way to disable her open loop from the ECM??
