Went to the salvage yard

Found a mirror blank

And some Styrofoam to try to get a better angle between the bumper and hood any guesses on what speed it will fly off tomorrow on the way to work?

I could not find a mirror blank anywhere, so I made my own.

Black ABS plastic and 3M double-sided tape worked out okay for me.

I guess the Metro passenger side delete panels only came on XFi's? Are the mirror mountings the same, both early Metro (89-94) versus late Metro (95-01)?

The only wrecking yard XFi I've seen so far had a passenger side mirror, and aftermarket AC... my guess is the owner pimped it out himself.

Did I just say "pimped" and Geo Metro"? in the same thread? haha

As the saying goes...one man's junk is another man's treasure. I was introduced to the auto salvage yard about a year ago. Now I don't know how I survived so long without them. I find something on the web (if I can find it at all) and it's $100. I find it at the junkyard, it's $4.

Cool about the mirror blank. I used to have one I took off one of my old Celebs but I probably pitched it, its been about 10 years. Wouldnt be hard to make one though.

Yeah Ive been doing the junkyard thing for about 10 years as well. Not only can you get better deals on common parts, you can find all sorts of odds and ends that youd never have even thought of in the first place.
