I remember when a former neighbor borrowed one, a Mercedes-Benz with some ancient turbodiesel engine, from a relative of him who rented that limo for events.

Since I live in Nowhere Land where there's no public transportation and you could easily land a job in the next town, 60 miles away: for under $10,000 a motorcycle might be the only way anymore.
I'd be partial towards a Honda PCX or Grom.

A few weeks ago I was looking at motorcycle prices and, even considering a 250cc instead of the 150/160cc class which is a best-seller in Brazil, also considering the price of a side-car, it was still around 50% less expensive than the least expensive econobox...

$5,000 - Used Piaggio MP3 500 (Mine was $3,000 with 8,000 miles on the ODO)
$15,000 - Used 2017 Bolt EV
$25,000 - New Maverick
$50,000 - Used Ambulance converted to RV
Realistically I can't see spending more than $25K on a car and once the used market returns to normal I wouldn't have a single new vehicle on my list.
The Ambulance that will eventually be not only a vehicle but my home.

Sayz the early retirement person...
Some people love to work to the end of their days to own slightly newer things.

Is a $300 Honda Insight and some land an option?
I paid $550 total for all of the cars in my signature! Basket cases are still (sometimes) cheap or free!

Owning newer stuff may be nice, but it's often too expensive...
