What exactly is aerodynamics and how do you make something aerodynamic?

what are some factors that play into making something aerodynamic,
what are some examples of good and bad aerodynamic objects

Here's some starter material

An aerodynamic vehicle is less affected by air resistance and drag.

Reducing the effects of air resistance and drag helps vehicles to accelerate more quickly and to preserve the speeds that they reach.

AERO-dynamics is VERY thin FLUID-dynamics.

What an awesome response. I was wondering about this a little the other day when I was thinking about taking a pic of an old Model T rolling down the street in front of me. I wondered, are there "aero" features? No, not in the sense we think of it, which it really about reducing Cd and CdA while avoiding lift. But then I thought, that's drag reduction. In reality all bodies in motion have "aerodynamics" and are in some sense "aerodynamic". So any features of a Model T exposed to the fluid dynamics of the aemosphere are "aerodynamic" features, and any that reduce drag over what Ford might have done or did do previously are "aero" in the sense we discuss it, even if they're not ideally aero. Still, I skipped taking the pic and just admired the car, which was the first car my grandfather ever owned.

Fantastic response, mikeyjd. Above and beyond the call of duty!

Unfortunately, there are a bunch of red flags in the O.P's account that suggest s/he's likely a spammer and is just establishing on the forum with "fake/real" posts before spamming away.

Of course I thought of that, but viewed as a chance to draw attention to Phil's great contributions.
